"It feels different already though I don’t know why"

Most people have heard of Marie Kondo and her book, "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying," and often mention her work to me. I found her book most interesting because tidying started for her when her mother started applying Feng Shui principles in their home, and Marie realized "the house was not tidy enough to have the feng shui effect."

I would say this is true. Clearing clutter is an important step in the process of Feng Shui, and often when I work with people, it is the first thing we look at and do.

I am currently working with a client who moved from a four-bedroom house to a one-bedroom apartment and has a lot of stuff with few closets, and she’s not sure where to put the things she does have. During our first session together, we arranged and organized her living room. As a follow-up, she has been decluttering her closets, cupboards, and under her bed, rearranging and letting go of things by donating, tossing, or finding new homes.

The other day I received this text from her:

“I walked out here this morning into my living room, and I thought to myself, ‘I need to tell Kate that out came out here, and it feels different already though I don’t know why."

I hear this and know it's working! The good news is you don’t need to understand why it works to get the results. You just need the desire to have your home feel good and love being in it. And do the work:) Feeling is believing!
