9 Easy Feng Shui Gifts - Day 8

Welcome to Day 8 of 9 Days of Easy Feng Shui Gift ideas that I have been sharing with you over the next two weeks. (If you missed the gift ideas for the first 7 days, check them out here). In Feng Shui, we use a compass called the Bagua (bah-gwah), divided into 9 areas of life that correspond to specific areas in your home or space. Typically, we use it to analyze how the areas of your space are impacting the corresponding areas of your life. I use the Bagua in my day-to-day life in many different ways, including selecting gifts.

To use the Bagua and apply it to your space, the entrance is always along the side of the Knowledge/Career/Travel areas, and you are facing the side with Wealth/Fame/Relationships areas.

Today, we are going to look at the area we call Career, which is about work, career, and how one makes a living. On the Bagua, Career is in the front middle, the color is black, and the element is water. My favorite gifts for a Career are:

  • Books - when in doubt, a book is always a great gift! My all-time favorite for people who are just out of college, or looking for a new job or career is "What Color is Your Parachute?" Amazingly, it helped me when I first graduated, and it is still very relevant, is updated every year. I use it with clients that I mentor. There is also a version for Retirement, which helps in thinking outside of the box when thinking about what's next for a prosperous, healthy, and happy future! After all, retiring from one's career no longer has to mean stopping work altogether.

  • Signature Pen and Stationery - call me old fashion in this digital day and age but a handwritten thank you letter or note written with a fountain pen on beautiful paper after an interview or helpful call or meeting, goes a long way to building relationships in your career. Here are some ideas for beautiful pens. For stationary or note cards, there are many to choose from but Cranes is forever.

The most important thing we recommend is when selecting, packaging, and sending or giving your gift, do it with Intention. In Feng Shui, we say, Intention is everything. It is the thing that makes it special and magical. Everyday Feng Shui. It's all right here! As always, I would love to hear from you. What's your favorite career gift?
