This time every year, I ask my husband what he would like for the holidays, and he always says, Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men and Women. I love that! I know I can't buy it for him, but it reminds me to think about what I can do to create peace and gift goodwill. It costs so little and gives so much. And it starts at home. Putting on our favorite music and dancing to it. Even when we are cleaning. Baking something delicious and having the whole house smell like cinnamon. Lighting beautiful candles and bringing in fresh flowers or seasonal greens that smell so good. Asking ourselves, what nice thing can I do for someone else? How can I be of service? Where can I bring Joy? Order a meal and have it delivered to someone who needs it. Reach out to those who live alone, are isolated, and chat by zoom. Think of those in need and write a note of love or appreciation. Let people know how grateful you are for them and what they mean to you. Express your gratitude for everything. This year, when we have all spent so much time at home, it has been a time of returning to simpler things, but in many ways, a time of slowing down and returning to what is really most important: our health and well-being, our homes, and our friends and family.
